Final Product
I was never good at photography, and i have never truly found an interest in it. I struggled with this project so much and its really evident in my photo. If i had the chance i would have made the background a bit more interesting, and more noticeable that there is plants and trees behind me. Although i enjoy the focus point being the flower and the eyes. I think the curls are really defined by the black and white filter. The black n white filter still shows the highlights and defines the details really well.

Artist Inspiration
George HurrellGeorge Edward Hurrell was born on June 1, 1904 in Cincinnati, Ohio. At first, he was going to become a priest, coming from a heavily Christian household, ultimately deciding on going to art school. At first he was a painter, and studied painting, then switched to Photography. George Hurrell worked through the great depression when the stock market crashed. Once being an independent photographer, then having to depend on companies.
I was really inspired by Hurrells photos. The black n white filter make the models so delicate looking and smooth. They perfectly capture in the moment things, and every single detail so perfectly. It looks airbrushed. |
Experiment Photos |
In these experiment photos, i experimented with different flowers and different positions of my head. I wanted to know which angle would look the best, and which flower would give me the result i wanted. I realized I wanted more of a front-veiw photo with a flower covering some par of my face. I came close to deciding two photos at one point.
Process: As the sun rose in the sky, the lighting changed rather quickly. My main focus was to attempt to do it at noon, but i ended up staying outside till 5pm, where the sun is in an entirely different position. Thankfully my backyard has the same background everywhere. So I was able to fallow the sun to be able to take similar lighting photos. I had my younger sister, take photos of me with the back camera of my phone, which is a Galaxy Note 9. In the settings of the phone there is a way to change the filter directly, so there wasn't really a need to edit the photos in apps. |

- My photo is taken outside with natural lighting.
- Hurrell's photo is taken indoors.
