Anatomy is one of my least favorite study when it comes to art. I have never been able to efficiently draw out muscles, bones, and correct placements of limbs since I've been able to draw. Unfortunately, to be able to efficiently draw any sort of human pose, you need to know basic anatomy. With this art project i combined my least favorite thing, Anatomy, and my favorite things, Mushrooms, to create this piece. The mushrooms were actually a last minute decisions, only having the anatomy and it colored was the original project. To be able to make the project more enjoyable to me I added some different mushrooms to each one.
My Process
The first thing i do when it comes to digital art is the line art. When it comes to anatomy, Its quite hard to figure out exactly where each limb, or where each minor detail goes unless you have studied it for quite some time. Since this was a study, i pulled some references from Pin interest from random unknown Artists and took reference as I sketched out men and woman bodies. As the piece goes on I stop using the line art as the main outline, and use the Gauche brush to paint the outlines and details. A difficulty i faced was trying to figure out the spacing between the muscles and where each thing lines up. |
The first anatomy body I did was the woman's bust. I first sketched out where I would like the Mushrooms on the body before i colored in the rest of it. The mushroom i chose for this body was the Death Trumpet Mushroom. I wanted to stray further away from the stereotypical of soft and bright colors for the woman's body. Going with hard and dark colors to fill it.

Analysis
-My work is a digital gouache painting
-The painting is based in a more fantasy view. The skin color is not a natural color that skin comes in. T
-Extreme saturation of colors when it comes to the highlights and blush contour. The overlay is specifically added to brighten the layers of coloring giving it a Gradient.
-Each body is in a different pose/angle giving me the opportunity to find out how anatomy works in different ways.
-There is a overlay that blends the main body into the background.
-Nude drawings allow me to see all the shapes and curves of humans natural bodies. All the different lines

ACT Questions
- Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your work? I used the reference photo that i found and adapted it into my own semi-realistic digital creation. Anatomy is one of the basic things all artists need to understand when drawing humans. The references i choese, even though from just random unknown artits, helped me be able to put my own personal stylistic choices into building the antomy of different bodies.
- What is the overall approach(point of view) the author (from your research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration? The over all approach i wanted to go for in this piece is staying true to my own personal style and preferred medium, while also branching off and using a brush I wouldn’t normally use to paint my pieces. Mushrooms also come in all different shapes and sizes, and so does human bodies, so by intertwining the two it allowed me to experiment with different shapes, and coloring techniques to mold the final product.
- What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. while you researched your inspiration? That being true to ones personal style and medium choice can create more of a creative boost than being refined to a project that is told to be created. I mixed by far my least understood topic, Anatomy, and mixed with something I over all enjoyed which was Mushrooms. Mixing thoes two ideas made the creation fun to make. Your simple imagination can come a long way.
- What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research? The central theme around my research was how the human body can be different.
- What kind of inferences (conclusions reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning) did you make while reading your research? That there is many things that can go into creating the meaning and the execution's of ones work. That by simply mixing two vastly different ideas, especially one being a study, can show that the artwork was done with fun. The intention was there to what it was needed to be, but by also allowing creative freedom with the colors.
